I know it's been a while since I've posted something on my blog. But what a better way to come back than with some good news?
Currently I am holding a giveaway on the facebook page of The State of Fashion, where two lucky winners will win one of the prizes in the picture below. If you want to join this giveaway just click here for all the instructions.
The past weeks have been pretty hectic for me. Not only was I busy with the September Issue of The State of Fashion, but right after that I was busy traveling too. But in case you haven't seen the September Issue of the magazine yet, make sure to check it out here!
As you may have read in this post last month, I started an online magazine called The State of Fashion. The July issue was a great success, so of course the August issue had to follow. Feel free to check the August issue out here and make sure to follow us on Twitter and like of Facebook page!
Recently I did a huge closet clean out. I don't know about you guys, but every so often I feel like my closet, or the clothes in it, are no longer in sync with the person I am or the image I want to portray. And of course with every huge closet clean out also comes a huge wish list, because new clothes to hang in your pretty much empty closet is now a need. This makes the perfect excuse to take a stroll downtown to browse around in you favorite local stores or in the comfort of your home on your favorite web-shops.
One website I always go to is ASOS. I don't know about you guys, but I am IN LOVE with ASOS even though they don't ship to my country anymore. If they don't ship to your country, but you know people residing in the EU or USA, ASOS could still be an option for you :)
A few weeks ago I posted on my Facebook page that a project I've been working on has been keeping me busy with no time to blog. Finally this project became reality and I can share it with you guys.
For a while now I wanted to do something more than just blogging and it all came down to the idea of an online magazine. The magazine I created is called The State of Fashion and it was officially launched on July 5th 2013. I could explain you a lot about it, but I think it will be better if you just take a look for yourself. I'll leave you with the cover of the first issue below & you can click here to read the magazine. Make sure you watch it in fullscreen :)
With summer almost here, revamping your wardrobe for this happy season seems like a perfect excuse to go on a shopping spree. But what exactly should you buy? As I mentioned before in this post, style and taste are very personal, but that doesn't mean you cannot take inspiration from someone or something else.
To help you make your shopping process easier, I put together a couple of items that I think are essential to every girls wardrobe for the summer time.
Bustiers & Crop Tops
High Waisted Shorts
(funny fact: I don't know when things changed, but gold used to be on the top of my dislike/hate list!)
Wedges & Sandals
Now, based on these items I also created a couple of outfits to show you how you can mix and match them.
Monday is for most people the least favorite day of the week since the weekend is over and you dont have that much time for yourself anymore for the next 4-5 days. But luckily there is music. Usually on Mondays I put together a playlist of my favorite songs (old & new), just so I can get through the day. I dont know about you, but (good) music can instantly cheer me up, no matter what I'm going through.
My playlists tend to be a bit long so I chose only 10 songs to share with you today & I hope they will make your day and week at least a little bit better :)
Seems like this week is filled with the launch of amazing shoe collections. Today was the turn for Chloe Jade Green's Summer 13 Shoe Collection. Chloe is the daughter of Sir Philip Green, CEO of the retail giant Arcadia Group that includes Topshop and Dorothy Perkins. More information on Chloe and how she started can be found here.
"Drawing inspiration from dreamy summer days and hot, humid nights Chloe’s Summer 13 collection mixes pretty girly styles with bold statement designs. Intricate cutwork, etching and shimmering metals contrast with thorny spines and graphic shapes."
One of my all time favorite obsessions is shoes, which means I am always looking for new styles and (affordable) brands. Happy was I when I found out about this brand Kandee (until I saw the prices). They have the coolest & really colorful shoes. If you are not familiar with Kandee shoes, it is a UK based shoe label, inspired by designer Josh Wayman's childhood candy obsession. You can read more about Kandee shoes here.
Today they launched the new collection "Pick 'N' Mix, which is described as the following: Say 'Hello' to Mr Kandee's Summer 2013 Collection inspired by his childhood memories of his favourite Pick"N"Mix sweets. This innovative and creative collection focuses on high quality bespoke customised leathers and signature Mr Kandee embellishment!
As I'm writing this post it is 23.45, 45 minutes after the unexplainable, no words for, 2 hours season finale of Revenge. This is by no means a way to spoil what happened on the episode for those who have not seen it yet, but just a way for me to try to calm down so I can fall asleep.
I don't consider myself a series expert, even though I watch more series than my schedule can handle, I need to catch up with a couple more and I'm planning to start watching a few more.
After this season finale, I can say that Revenge is like no other series I've watched before. Or at least not that intense. This episode was a freaking emotional roller coaster from start to finish and I feel like the ride will not be over until next season starts airing. Then it will be time to exit this roller coaster and enter a new one. Revenge is one of those series that keeps you on the edge of your seat from beginning till end. And what more important than the episode itself? Next episode's spoiler!! It makes the episode you just watched feel like it never even existed!
The Met Gala is the annual event with which the Metropolitan Museum of Art formally kicks off the Costume Institute exhibit. Here are my favorite looks from this year's Met Gala themed "PUNK: Chaos to Couture".
Growing up, every girl dreams of that day, their own fairy tale wedding. The most amazing venue, surrounded by loved ones, the perfect man....and most essential of all, the perfect gown. At least that was my case.
To me, a wedding gown is more than just the dress you wear on that big they. Wedding gowns represents this state of serenity, joy and fulfillment. Your dress should reflect everything you feel on that day.
The past weekend in New York City, top designers showcased their Spring/Summer 2014 Collections during the semi-annual Bridal Market. After seeing the collections, I'm still wondering why there aren't other occasions where you can wear a wedding gown. In the meantime I give you my favorite styles from the collections I've seen so far....
Beyonce's summer 2013 ad campaign for H&M has been revealed, and the pictures are STUNNING to say the least. It seems like Mrs. Carter is making 2013 her year. Her Super Bowl performance, her autobiography film Life Is But a Dream, her Pepsi commercials, this H&M Campaign and recently starting her world tour. I don't think this year can get any better for her! These were my three favorites from the campaign. The colors are just amazing on her!
First of all I want to apologize for being absent lately. I've been so busy with other aspects of my life that I didn't have much time to sit down and work on blogs. But in the mean time I was working on a couple of giveaways for you guys. Since I didn't get to do a giveaway in January for my blog's first anniversary, I was hoping to do a couple of give aways throughout this year. So hopefully this will be the first one of many.
Today April 4th 2013, marks the 85th birthday of this phenomenal woman called Maya Angelou, also referred to as Dr. Angelou. "She is one of the most renowned and influential voices of our time. Hailed as a global renaissance woman, Dr. Angelou is a celebrated poet, memoirist, novelist, educator, dramatist, producer, actress, historian, filmmaker, and civil rights activist."
"Still I Rise" was the first poem by Maya Angelou that I ever heard and I was instantly amazed. This led me to searching more about her. She has a voice you cannot get enough of and how she put words together is just unexplainable. She is truly one phenomenal and inspiring human being. Therefore I wanted to share two of my favorite poems by her with you today.
Last month I started with my first post from the "Inspirational Character" serie. As I was looking into all the Inspirational Characters I wanted to present to you so far, I realized that what I wanted to share with you guys was videos, mostly of interviews held with these amazing human beings. Therefore I decided that instead of posting these videos on my blog I will post them on my Facebook Page.
Today's Inspirational Character is Diane Von Furstenberg. Make sure to check & like my Facebook Page so you don't miss out on any of these videos.
They are finally available for purchase, at least in Europe! Which of these designs are you rooting for? I want them ALL!! & I don't even drink diet coke :)
If I compare the Jean Paul Gaultier, the Karl Lagerfeld and now these Marc Jacobs designs, I think Diet Coke could not have chosen someone better than Marc to design for their 30 year celebration. The three different designs are meant to capture the fashions of the 80s, 90s and 00s.Their fun & colorful design also make them perfect for this festive occasion.
This is by far one of the coolest Ad Campaigns I've ever seen for a beverage.
DVF's bold prints meet Roxy's signature swim silhouettes in a collection that is both playful and empowering. From swimwear and beach cover-ups, to boardshorts, rashguards and beach bags, the pieces reflect DVF's love of beach culture and nature as well as Roxy's active and trailblazing spirit. A celebration of natural beauty and confidence, the collaboration is all about encouraging women to go for it and ride the wave.
Last but not least I will present to you my ultimate favorite looks from the Fall 2013 Ready to Wear Collections shown during New York Fashion Week. The hardest part when making this post was to choose only 3 to 4 looks from each designer. But you can always look up the whole collections on Style.com
Almost two weeks ago, designers officially revealed their 2013 Fall Ready To Wear collections during the New York Fashion Week. As I was looking at some of the collections I realized that geometric prints, animal prints, white and metallic where the trends that ruled the runway during NYFW. This is the second time I am doing a blog post on Fall Ready to Wear Collections, and I have to say that I liked the 2012 collections way better. You can catch up on my favorite of NYFW 2012 FTW Collections here, here and here. In the mean time, keep on reading to see some of the pieces from the collections I liked the most.
As you might have read in a previous blog post, I was working on new post ideas for the blog. Inspirational Character is one of these ideas. This serie of blog posts will present people whom to me have very inspirational stories to tell and their stories are worth sharing. Most of the time we see people's success but little do we know about everything they went through to get there. The purpose behind these posts is not only to tell about someone else's road to success, but to also give you that push to live your own dreams and to show that hard work really pays off (sooner or later) and anything else you can learn from their stories! Bottom line, to inspire you :) To kick off this serie, we have well known fashion designer Tom Ford. I hope this video inspires you as much as it inspired me.
Yesterday was THE night for musicians. Unlike other music award shows, to me, the Grammys is the least commercial of them all. One of the few award shows, if not the only one, were your chances of winning depends totally on your music and not your popularity. I think the last time I watched the Grammy's (not only the red carpet) was in 2008 when Kanye was nominated in a lot of categories. The reason I decided to tune in last night was mostly because of the performances & also because Fun. was nominated for a couple of things. I really enjoyed the show last night, there were a couple of mind blowing performances, but most important of all I loved how the Grammys celebrates REAL music!
Now without further ado lets move to the reason we are all here, my favorites from last night's red carpet.
If you are a frequent online shopper, I'm sure that you have an amount of preferred webshop you always rely on. But unfortunately you don't always find exactly what you are looking for on those specific websites and it can get really overwhelming having a bunch of tabs of different websites open. Luckily for you, there is ShopStyle.com! ShopStyle is not only handy for finding what you are looking for on just one website, but you can also find out about webshops you never heard of before.
"ShopStyle is the online equivalent of browsing the aisles of the world's most fabulous store.
I can't even remember when was the last time I did a red carpet recap for you guys. Luckily last night was the SAG Awards...and of course what is an award show without the red carpet event. Here are my favorites of last night.
Lately I've been wondering a lot about the fashion industry's standards for models, especially when it comes to size/weight. Even though I understand the standard, I don't think it would kill designers to deviate from it from time to time. When I look at runway shows I feel like certain clothes could have looked better if the model was maybe just a bit curvier, just a bit!
The first time I heard of Kate Upton was in 2011 when she was named Rookie of the Year by Sports Illustrated Swim Issue. From there everything started to roll for Kate. In 2012 Kate Upton was on the cover for Sports Illustrated Swim Issue, Cosmopolitan, Vogue Italia, GQ and she was also the cover for Vogue UK's January 2013 issue.
After two months of absence, I can say I'm back!! In my previous post I was telling you guys that I needed to take a break from blogging in order to focus on school. Those days are over!! Finally today I graduated, and oh boy, there is no way to explain this feeling. I'm happy I can finally start pursuing my dreams, do the things I really want in life and just follow my heart. And yes, in the mean time I also did a couple of changes to the blog. I added the header & changed the lay out a little bit. I'm working on new post ideas right now and also a schedule, but you will see that in a couple of days I hope you guys like this improved version of my blog & stay tuned for new blog posts.
