Today April 4th 2013, marks the 85th birthday of this phenomenal woman called Maya Angelou, also referred to as Dr. Angelou. "She is one of the most renowned and influential voices of our time. Hailed as a global renaissance woman, Dr. Angelou is a celebrated poet, memoirist, novelist, educator, dramatist, producer, actress, historian, filmmaker, and civil rights activist."

"Still I Rise" was the first poem by Maya Angelou that I ever heard and I was instantly amazed. This led me to searching more about her. She has a voice you cannot get enough of and how she put words together is just unexplainable. She is truly one phenomenal and inspiring human being. Therefore I wanted to share two of my favorite poems by her with you today.
